How can I get rid of game center or at least remove the icon?

I want to clean up the desktop by getting rid of useless apps like game center and news stand.


1. How an I delete them.

2. If delete is not possible, can they be hidden from view.

You can't delete them. You can't hide them. If you need to make room on the home screen, group apps into folders. Newsstand cannot be put in a folder because it, itself, is a folder.

Newsstand has been in a folder since the first week it came out and I found that you could get it into a folder. It's jumped out once, I think with the 5.1 update, but I got it back in.


I don't know if there's a difference between updating via comptuer, updating via wifi (I do mine via computer), but it went back in.


As to moving the icons around, there is another way. Plug your iPad into your compuer (or use wifi sync) and open iTunes. In iTUnes, in the app tab you have the option to use your mouse to arrange your icons on the pages of the device.

Newstand doesn't bother me so much because it's just there. But Game Center is a constant irritation that launches whenever it wants to Moving the icon to a folder may help clear up the screen, but it still will continue its irritating behavior. I agree with GMDaddy's view that this is certainly a strange and unnecessary thing to put in an OS.
