iTunes Store slow on iPad

I am having a great deal of trouble with the iTunes Store (Music, Films, etc) on my iPad 3.

The iTunes Store App appears to be running really slow, with either nothing displaying at all, or only some items appearing after a long wait.

The issue affects all the tabs (Music, Films, TV, etc), in fact just changing tabs can take minutes, with little results shown if at all.

I can see a spinning 'in progress' icon in the status bar at the top of the iPad screen next to the WiFi icon, it just runs and runs.

I have quit the App, done a hard reboot on the iPad, it makes no difference at all. It may have started after the 5.1.1 update but I can't confirm that as this is the first time I have been in the iTunes Store on the iPad for a few days.

There are no speed issues with the App Store or other internet based apps, they are all operating normally.

I am also on a 30mbps cable connection and I know it is not an internet speed issue.

Maybe there is an issue at the iTunes Store end, is anyone else seeing a problem?

Wow .. I found a workaround. If you know the name of the artist and album .. Google it up, adding the keyword itunes to your search. Click on the result from itunes.apple.com.

Sometimes you find out that the album is available in some countries but not orhers. How strange that Neil Young's "Trans" can be bought in the Japan and Great Britain stores, but not in the US.

Ok, wait. I am not able to replicate that success. Never mind. But I did manage to buy one album that way. Did the search, filliwed the link, and, boom, there was the result ready to buy. Might be worth trying occasionally.

Parenthetically, Bing filters the results from iTunes out. Or doesn't index them in the first place.

Anyone else have Match start mysteriously on their Mac/PC today? iTunes told me today I had 40 downloads available, I downloaded them. (All one Dave Matthews album I've had for a long time). Then I noticed Match spinning, so clicked on it and it said "0 of 9" something or other (Step 2). No progress after an hour or so, so I stopped it. Started it back up. Then it did my entire library over, but got hung up with... 9 tracks left. No idea what those tracks are, but is this a coincidence? I still have Match off on my iPad.

This is my problem too. I'm using an iPhone 4s and iPad 2 both are using iTunes Match. The app store and iTunes Match work like they should. When tapping on iTunes app it is very slow no matter if i'm on home wi-fi, public wi-fi, or cell network. The fetured page will normally finish loading in under a minute on wi-fi. if i go anywhere else (i.e. search, top charts) it lags and ultimately becomes unresponsive. I will probably head into Apple and have them look at it so they can have an issue on file that a tech looked at it. They may have a temporary fix. Hopeful.

Any further update on this? It's been going on quite a while at this stage.

FWIW I have had this problem for several weeks on my iPhone 4S. I don't use match and have purchased very few songs on iTunes. I have however downloaded lots of podcasts using iTunes on PC and directly via the app. However due to this problem I can't use the "direct" method at the moment.

From my Apple Genius Bar visit on Friday, I was told that Apple is await of the issue, but could not offer an reason the tech told me that this is happening in the store and out and about with there personal phones. the tech's have really looked into it and done what they can to work HQ in the issue. He did mention that it's possible that Applr cell service could be over loaded, cause ion his experience it has only been AT&T phones with this problem. Not sure about that, though I do have AT&T service on iPad 2 and iPhone 4S.

This may change of course, but iTunes on my iPhone 4S currently seems to be working again for the first time since this fault arose.

I tried accessing both standard size albums and also the massive Beatles Box set to load the previews. I could be wrong, but it does feel very slightly slower than before on the Beatles Box set, but it is perfectly acceptable.

Let's hope Apple have found a fix . . . will be checking again later in the day.

My iTunes store seems to be working much better on both my ipad 2 and iPhone 4s, but iTunes match is not working properly.

1. Can't see any playlists on either device

2. I've added music to the cloud via my iMac, but it doesn't show up on either device. It does show up on my apple tv.

3. None of my artwork is showing up

4. Little wheel keeps spinning around endlessly as if it's trying to download something

None of these issues existed prior to 5.1.1. iTunes match used to work perfectly.

razz - from your description, that seems to be a different problem from that being discussed on this thread, I'm afraid.

The issue we had been having, was the iTunes store itself being slow when trying to load the previews of an album prior to purchase.

For the benefit of others on the thread, I've checked several times since yesterday morning and it still seems to be working fine for me now.
