iTunes Store slow on iPad

I am having a great deal of trouble with the iTunes Store (Music, Films, etc) on my iPad 3.

The iTunes Store App appears to be running really slow, with either nothing displaying at all, or only some items appearing after a long wait.

The issue affects all the tabs (Music, Films, TV, etc), in fact just changing tabs can take minutes, with little results shown if at all.

I can see a spinning 'in progress' icon in the status bar at the top of the iPad screen next to the WiFi icon, it just runs and runs.

I have quit the App, done a hard reboot on the iPad, it makes no difference at all. It may have started after the 5.1.1 update but I can't confirm that as this is the first time I have been in the iTunes Store on the iPad for a few days.

There are no speed issues with the App Store or other internet based apps, they are all operating normally.

I am also on a 30mbps cable connection and I know it is not an internet speed issue.

Maybe there is an issue at the iTunes Store end, is anyone else seeing a problem?

Ian - Thanks again for all your help with this, but I now find it really strange. I experienced the problem upon installation of iOS 5.1.1 It was consistently poor until a recent significant improvement (albeit still very slightly slower than before).

Previews of standard sized albums now appear within 3-4 seconds, with the 241 track Beatles Box set appearing in around 8-9.

Prior to this improvement, the fault meant that even the smallest of albums would take around 45 seconds for the preview samples to be made available, so a huge difference.

What's even more bizarre about this, is that I live only a few miles down the road from you near Sale, UK.

I have seen a dramatic improvement in this over the past few days. I have about 18000 tracks on Match, for point of reference, and I have been trying this daily since Keanos reported it improved on June 4 to see if it is indeed so. So far it has been.

I launched iTunes on my iPad 2 over wifi, and searched for 'The Dark Side Of The Moon.' It took about 15 seconds to pull up a useable list of results. Summining album artwork still takes the most time. It sure would be nice if the app would allow you to make selections before the art finished loading. Hint, hint, Apple.

Selecting the 'Experience' version, with 24 tracks, it returned a puchaseable previewable list of songs in about 7 seconds.

Subsequent attempts showed about the same results, with the search usually taking less than than 10 seconds. Opening "150 Hair Metal Under Cover Hits" (har) took no longer to get previewable results than the 24 track 'The Dark Side Of The Moon.'

It's gone fom unuseable to quite workable. Thank you, Apple. I wish you were seeing better results, Ian.

Things might have improved, but are no way working as they were prior to 5.1.1. My iTunes match has all kinds of issues.

iPad and iPhone do not display album artwork, or playlists. Downloading songs from the cloud to my devices is virtually impossible.

Songs uploaded to the cloud via my iMac aren't instantly visible on iPad or iPhone.

Everything is normal between iMac, iTunes match and apple tv, but iPad and iPhone is loaded with the issues outlined above.

Is anybody else experiencing similar issues?

I find that things are almost back to normal. The only thing that seems to take longer than normal is sometimes seeing the artwork associated with what I'm searching for takes an additiional few seconds to come into focus. Otherwise, things are much, much, much better than they were. Mabye APPLE fed the hamsters turning the wheels to the database that a ga-zillion and 3 iPod and iPad users are hitting at the same time.

Considering...the CPU power & hardeware to keep the wheels moving must be amazing
