ITunes 10.6 Install on Windows 7 problem

Hi

I try to install ITunes 10.6(the newest from apple itunes website) on my laptop.

the install stuck on "Publishing product information" and after couple of minutes i get this error:

"

this is the computer detailes:

windows 7 starter

service pack 1

Asus EeePC X101H

intel atom CPU n570 1.66ghz

1GB ram

WIN 32 Bit

Any help with this problem??

These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up en passant.

Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. If updates install, stock up on the ones you're behind on, restarting the PC if requested to do so. After the restart, try installing iTunes again. Does it go through this time for you?

If windows updates fail to install, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you? Are they also 800736fd, or some other number? (If they're another number, what number are you getting?)

Hi b noir

I make update for my windows(after it take a lot of time to install), restart my computer and try to install ITunes again.

it still stuck on

"Publishing product information"

and after that i get the same error msg

any other idea for this problem?

Quickly check Windows update again. Are there any updates you're getting offered again (even though they supposedly installed properly last time round)?

If so, what is the update that is behaving oddly?

after your post i noticed that there is two updates that aren't installed.

i try to install them and the install stuck on "Preparing for installation"

this is the updates:

1) ms12-025 security update for the .net framework 4

2) atheros communication inc. - network - atheros ar9285 wireless network adapter

I think the trouble is with the .NET framework on your PC. iTunes uses the .NET framework, so an issue with .NET is consistent with both the issues with the Windows Update and the iTunes install.

Getting it fixed ... I think we need to get you on the radar screens of some .Net framework specialists.

Try posting over at the Windows Update forum at Microsoft Answers:

In your post there, mention the particular update you're having trouble installing.

If they can help you get that .Net issue sorted out, try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?
