iMac drops Wifi connection after 10.7.4 update

I am having the same problem on my imac and it is driving me crazy. I constantly have to turn wifi off and then turn wifi on so that it reconnects again!!! How do I go back to 10.7.3 after an update to 10.7.4 ?

It is a shame that despite all the cash Apple has, they constantly neglect the software part when it is not for iphone or ipad....

I had the same problem. The only solution for me was boot from the restore partition and done a fresh install downloading lion from the. Appstore. When you do that the version donwnloaded is the 10.7.3. I do not aply any upgrade since the installation. I work with no problem since that. I start thinking even microsoft try better theyre upgrades......

i started with Ubuntu 12.04 live-distro and the wifi is great, so it is definitely a problem with osx lion.

I can confirm now, that changeing the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz channels to a fixed value, seem to have solved the problem.

Yesterday I was cruising the Apple Support looking for an old firmware update and came across MANY Firmware updates (shouldn't they be in OS upgrades) :

There are lots of updates but I didn't sort them out specifically for the WiFi problems

Use the 5GHz Band Compared with the 2.4GHz band, the 5GHz band is practically empty. The newest AirPort Extreme Base Station is one of the few Wi-Fi base stations designed for home use that work in that 5GHz band. All of Apple’s Core 2 Duo laptops and iMacs (except the discontinued 17-inch 1.87GHz model) can also use the 5GHz band; with the build-to-order wireless option, so can the Mac Pro.

To switch to the 5GHz band, launch AirPort Utility, select your base station, and switch to Manual Setup. Click on the AirPort button and select the Wireless tab. Select 802.11n Only (5 GHz) from the Radio Mode pop-up menu. Click on the Wireless Options button and select Use Wide Channels. Click on Update to restart the base station.

Currently, no Mac-compatible adapters enable you to use the 5GHz band in older Macs or with older versions of OS X.

Anyone found a fix? I did the restart and so far no problems for 2 days, but only time will tell.

I've been suffering from the same thing randomly when moving from office to office.

The solution I found (which is working so far) is to change the channel to 36. It's usually the interference from protable phones that use similar channels as wifi.

I might be just randomly lucky and have it working, but give it a go.

Thanks - I'll give setting the channels to fixed values a go. This issue with my 27" iMac has been driving me absolutely nuts - haven't been able to get any work done at all for the last few days.

Like others here, I am seeing the same problem on my reconditioned 2011 3.4GHz iMac since updating to 10.7.4. It is as if the wireless is off as it sees no wireless networks at all (despite my MacBook, iPad, iPod Touch and other devices all being able to connect fine). Only rebooting seems to work. I will try fixing the wi-fi channels on my Airport Extreme although where I live there is a lot of interference (I can usually see between 6 and 10 other wi-fi networks).

Setting the channels manually seems to have sorted the problem; at least in the couple of hours since I tried I haven't had any disconnections so far - and the problem had been happening every 10-15 minutes!
