iMac drops Wifi connection after 10.7.4 update

I have a 27" i7. I never had any problems with my wifi. Upon bootup, the wifi connection was secure within 10 seconds of desktop arrival.

Now, I have installed 10.7.4 and immediately I could not boot, nor reboot into a wifi connection. I get an error message every time saying I have no internet connection. If I choose the diagnostic tool the connection kicks-in about half way through the process.

Please tell me there is a fix on the way. At this point, I wish I had not installed the upgrade.

My 2011 27" iMac drops wifi consistantly every 30 minutes. I have grown tired of restarting it, so the iMac is now wired to the Airport base station.

Another issue that has cropped up since 10.7.4 is the iMac is slow to wake from sleep.

Disk repair shows the drive and file system are fine.

Kind of a silly...

This method worked like a charm for me – it's been almost a day since and everything's in perfect working order.

Manually setting the wifi channel(s) to a specific value definitely works too; it's been two days now and no lost connections. Hopfully there won't be any interference with the 5GHz band if you can use it.

This seems a bit easier than replacing kernel extensions, degrading system software, etc.

I am having the same problem. My iMac (2011) drops all WiFi after a long period of time (ever since 10.7.4), and I need to restart to regain my WiFi...

I just emailed Tim Cook about this problem. I'm hoping for a response.

I got a call form Apple Corporate Executive Relations, and we talked about it, and I was sent onto the tech support, but the guy from tech support and I did not get anywhere because we could not simulate the issue (as in we could not diagnose it if it weren't currently happening). I'll be sure to call back if it happens again.

Anyone that have checked if the last uppdate of Airport Utility 6.1 made any different ?

So, now Apple engineers have the information, know of the problem, and have the data they need (I used the Capture Data app that they use at Apple and they forwarded that on to the engineers). They do not currently have any resolution to the problem, but it could likely come in a software update.

I hope they find a resolution soon!

How do I set mtu? I'm not sure what that is.. But this problem is overly annoying

You can temporarily test by pasting this into Terminal, (will go back to defaults when you reboot)...

sudo ifconfig en1 mtu 1492

Has anyone heard anything "official" the Mountain Lion will fix this wi-fi issue? I've been switching back and forth between ethernet and wi-fi since February hoping one of the software updates would fix this but alas, no so.
