iMac drops Wifi connection after 10.7.4 update

Hello there,

I am experiencing intermittent wifi connection problems after installing the 10.7.4 update on my 2011 iMac 27".

The symption is that the iMac drop its Wifi connection after a period of time and when that happens the iMac cannot detect any wifi networks in my area (disabling & re-enabling Wifi on the iMac doesn't help). I have to resort to restarting the iMac to revive the wifi interface. Note that my other devices (including my iPhone and my MacBook Air) can connect to my Airport Extreme without any problems.

Is there any "quick-fix" solutions out there that can fix this problem? I want to avoid a complete re-install as much as possible.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.4), 27"

It should - quick Google provided this BT link:

If it supports 5GHz, use that, otherwise try different channels - check which channels other wifi networks are using by option (alt) clicking on the wifi menu in the menu-bar and hovering over each network to see which channel it's using.

Obviously there's a bug! Got the same problem as you all guys. Since updated on 10.7.4... it doesn't mather which settings I put on (energy saving settings, first on a list, etc etc). Generally I drop my Mac to resting state (Ruhezustand in german). I actually never shut down my Mac, in prior versions never had a problem with WIFI! And there is certainly no problem with airport/router cause all my other gadgets are in contact.

so far, looking forward to get an other update!

update:

sure, if anything of your "work-arounds" would fix the problem in any way - it doesn't matter for me! Actually I'm just a normal-user. If anything worked before, I'm glad to keep this in future as well! 😉

update 2:

I'm a little bit confused... just found this: they had the same problem in a earlier version (10.7.3 !!!)...:http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4209?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

I finally got fed up with wifi constantly dropping. I don't have time to back up everything and re-install Snow Leopard, and we don't know if Apple will ever fix this in Lion or Mountain Lion, so I ordered Asus's USB-N10 wireless adapter from Best Buy:

It was only $20, and installing it was a breeze. I finally have an uninterrupted internet connection again! The only downside is that I've got one less USB port.
