Internal USB Hub
I have a G5 Tower with a busted top USB port.
Is there a third party USB internal hub that can be installed in the free optical drive slot below the dvd drive on the mac front?
Mac Pro 8-Core, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

G5 don't have a second optical slot. If you want a USB in the opitcal drive browse newegg for something like below.

I don't know G5, is there an internal connections? Try a PCI card.
Opps...sorry it is the Mac Pro with two slots.
Because the tower is located in an open front office desk cabinet, It has to be front mounted USB slots for quick and easy access.
I will look at the Newegg web site for options.
If the rear ports work, another option...
Thanks also for your reply. Yes my rear USB ports work and I have no problem with using a USB hub, except for the model you refer to in your reply as Amazon.com users reviews states that it is a piece of junk from china.
My problem/solution is that I am looking for an internal USB hub like they have available for PC's. I currently have a USB hub but I also like neatness and not having to many cables running all over the place and for quick access for cameras etc, an internal front available USB hub would be ideal.
So again I am looking for a Mac internal front panel USB hub solution.
Lightstriker's suggestion looked pretty good on the face of it.
The space between the top opening DVD tray and the bottom (empty) slot is approx 1/2" so the hub shown by lightstriker will be to tall to work. sigh.
Below is two links to the idea I am looking for.I may have to do some heavy investigative work and some serious modfying work to reach a solution, but 'Neccessity is the mother of invention'.
