USB-Ethernet problems after 10.7.4

it worked! After uninstalling Android File Transfer Agent.. phew.. finally my TimeMachine to NAS can go via Ethernet again instead of wifi 😀

FYI. I also use the Android transfer application, and the Display Ethernet works just fine.

so I need to remove Android File transfer to get basic ethernet working? so how do I now USB connect my Android phone to my MBA since it doesn't support MTP, seems like either way something won't be working!

this seems to be the case. i now have to bring my **** windows laptop into the mix to get things onto my android. I've seen something at the App Store that may do the trick. but still this seems surprisingly, um, anti-competitive for apple to effectively shut out android like that ...

Can you just run Windows in virtual machine (parallels, vmware) and use the Android phone that way?

I guess I'm the only unlucky guy who's still having issues despite having uninstalled Android File transfer. I used appZapper to remove it, anyone have any other suggestions on how I can sort this without having to go spend my day with a "igenius"?

I am glad some of you were able to find success with the solution. Unfortunetly I am not using an Android device, and don't have the Transfer Agent installed on my MBA😟.

I am still SooL as my USB network adapter still shows as being "Not Connected".

Hi, there's been a bit misunderstanding on this? I've been looking for that "Android File Transfer Agent" everywhere even using Spotlight but nowhere to found to remove/uninstall it. Can you help us a step-by-step procedure on this?

I've been using USB personal hotspot to share my internet connection on my Macbook but just after that 10.7 update in iTunes everything goes wrong. For now I use Wifi as an option for me to get some help getting back online. Thanks in advance!

I had the same problem and had never had Android File Transfer Agent installed, so I don't think the blame lies with Google. I did at one point try installing the above then unstalling it to see if that worked, but to no avail. However, there is a fix. You need to install an updated driver for the adaptor, something which Apple should have picked up in its software updates long ago given the amount of coverage this has received in the forums.

Open Finder, find the AFTA icon in Applications, and drag it to Trash.

Still NG after installing the driver!

My only solution is to keep switching USB Ports. This is extremely annoying. Genius bar has no clue, and wants to replace my MBA, but I know that won't solve the problem, and will only mean I have to re-setup my laptop.

How is it that Apple is good at so many things EXCEPT taking responsiblity for their failures.
