Can I enable battery percentage on my iPod touch 4th generation running iOS 5.1.1 without being jailbroken?

Step 1: gotohttp://www.icopybot.com/ibackupbot_setup.exe download and install it if you have windows.

Step 2: Next create a backup of your device in iTunes and then CLOSE iTunes (or else you may run into problems later on) do not lock the backup with a password.

Step 3: Open iBackupBot. Click the backup you just made Next click "Path" to sort by Path.

Step 4: Look for and double click it. On the registration screen that comes up, hit cancel.

Library/Preferences/com.apple.springboard.plist

Step 5: Find <dict> and create a new line after it. Then add this:

<key>SBShowBatteryLevel</key>

<true/>

Step 6: Hit CTRL + S or just the save button at the top left corner of that editor window. Now close the window.

Step 7: Right click that same backup you just edited

Step 8: click restore

Step 9: Done! If you don't see the changes, reboot your iPod.

For removing it is the same but:

1) set true to false

2) remove it all together.

Will this erase all app data and settings on my ipod?

This started to crash my ipod and it would continue to crash so now i have restored my ipod. Thank you who ever posted this because i did not work

does this work on a Mac? because all I have is a MacBook Pro, so wouldn't work on this as well as windows?

Quick question, could you lose any data or anything like that when you use the method that you posted?

I think I've found the solution to the problem where you get an error code when you try restoring to your device. Once you are done editing so that you have this:

<key>SBShowBatteryLevel</key>

<true/>

under your <dict> line, you right click on the document (com.apple.springboard.plist) and you click

"Restore selected item(s) to device"

The restore will do it's thing, then you can turn on your device and voila!

It worked for me also. But you have to make sure you are using the correct com.apple.springboard.plist file. there are two places this file is listed . There is one under the Root domain menu and another one under the Home Domain menu. You want to use the one under Home Domain menu. So use HomeDomain/Library/Preferences/com.apple.springboard.plist. On mine it was about the 14th file down on the list. Thanks again.

If your getting Error 37 when you are restoring the ipod from iBackupBot it's could be because you have "find my device" turned on in iCloud. on the device go to settings, icloud, Find my ipod touch and turn off and try again. Worked for me!
