The New iPad + iOS 5.1.1 - touch screen problems

Hello,

Since updating The New iPad to iOS 5.1.1, I've been experiencing touch screen interaction problems - When I touch the screen at one point, the system seems to think that I touched one or more other points on the screen. For example, when the keyboard is on screen and I press the letter 'q', sometimes 'e' gets pressed as well, and sometimes 'u'.

I attached a screen-shot of me trying to press the letter 'q' repeatedly, just for example:

This reneders navigation, app interaction and typing totatlly impossible.

Is this a known issue in iOS 5.1.1? Bug? Hardware problem? Has anyone else encountered this issue?

I haven't tried a restore yet, I may try it later today.

Thanks.

Try a reset. Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the red slider.

Now in 2013 I have had the same issue upgrading an original iPad to 5.1.1. I had left iOS on its original version and never experienced such a problem. Immediatley on upgrading the screen started going berserk, typing different letters from that touched on the keybpard, and in Settings moving spontaneously around the sections. This makes managing and using the iPad vitually impossible. For example can't type the App Store password to download updates, let alone use them!

It's clearly not a hardware problem, other than the way it interacts with 5.1.1. Why has this not been fixed in 6 months?
