Did I understand this right? To find my iphone i have to have it in my hand in order to do a reset or change some setting??? Is this a joke????????

FIGURED IT OUT! At least, this was *my* problem.... I couldn't figure out for the life of me why my device wasn't showing up on FindMyiPhone (neither on my other devices nor signed on in iCloud on my PC.) I had it turned on in settings > iCloud > FindMyiPhone AND under settings > Privacy > Location Services > FindMyiPhone. I tried toggling off and on. Nothing seemed to work. I finally contacted Apple via chat. The gal was very nice, although she didn't end up needing to help me, because while I was chatting with her, explaining the situation, I noticed at the top of the iCloud page, a notification that I needed to "accept new terms and conditions." I clicked "accept" on that and immediately my device showed up (I was watching on my husband's iPhone in the FindMyiPhone app.) So yay for that!

i have a iphone 5c and tired locating. but I didn't enable the location with the steps above. so I went online to my icloud account. how can I do it that way.

I lost my ipad and it has find my ipad turned on but I cant see the ipad on any of my other devices.

If it matters I was able to see all my devices from my ipad (so all the devices appear on the ipad but the ipad is not shown in the other devices)

I have a chance to find it or its gone for good?

I had the same problem. I just,

1.in settings>Icloud>Find My Iphone Switch- I turned that off.

2.Then I reset the iphone by turning it off and on again.

3.Flipped the switch for Find My Iphone on.

For whatever reason this allowed it to connect.

This is the ONLY thing that worked for my new iphone 6. Thank you!
