There is no error 1140 listed in this article:

Update and restore error messages on iPhone and iPod touch

The only error close to that could be error 1014:

Error 1002, 1011, 1012, 1014: These errors may indicate a hardware issue with your device. Follow the steps in this article. Also attempt to restore while connected with a known-good 30-pin Dock Connector cable, computer, and network to isolate this issue to the device. The MAC address being missing or the IMEI being the default value (00 499901 064000 0) can also confirm a hardware issue.

Can you see your iPod listed under USB devices in the System Profiler of your MacBookPro?

I got an error 1140 today as well.

I realised that I updated yesterday to iPhoto 9.3 and Apple Aperture 3.3 (sharing same library). I also have seen that iTunes synchronises to a certain point before popping up the error. So I de selected the "synchronise photos" and run synch again. Now it is working, but without photo synchronising.

iMac / iPhone 4

Check this.

I am wondering if Apple will update itunes / and/or iphoto

Hello

By accident I found a solution. I opened iPhoto 9.3 and iTunes 10.6.3. I switched then to the foto section for the iPhone snyc. Now I could choose whether to sync everything or only selective and my old choise was visible.

Since I did this, I can sync with any error. So, my solution for me was

Open iPhoto

Open iTunes

Check if you can select the selective sync of photos

Hope it can help you to

Cheers
