External TV Monitor not clear

Hello,

I have a Macbook Pro 15" from Mid 2010 and today I went and bought a Mini displayport to HDMI connection so I could use a TV as a monitor and clamshell.

The TV is an Emerson LC220EM1. Which is a 22" monitor.

I am having problems getting the TV to have clear resolution, It is okay, but its definitely not as clear as it could be.

Also when I put them in mirror mode, the top bar is cut off on the external monitor.

Help please?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Thank you for replying.

The external monitor is still not getting nearly as clear as my macbook pro normally is, I know it might never be identical but its definitely a drastic difference. I've tried almost every combination of resolutions and nothings working.

On the LCD TV display settings it says something like Usable resolution 1024x768 but that isn't an option to select. And no refresh rate is available either

Your tv may not get as clear as your monitor because the display on your mac is designed to work well with the mac. I have an external monitor that I use when I need to use the computer as a desktop. If the TV doesn't match the resolution output it's not going to be clear because in order for you to get a nice crisp clear display you need to match it. You need to find out what the resolution rating is on that TV and then after doing that, you need to make sure you match it on the settings, if you can't get it match then it isn't going to be as clear because unless you hit a perfect native resolution you aren't going to get the picture that the TV can put out because it isn't matching. My computer monitor can give me pretty clear, but not perfect and looks nowhere near what the display looks like on my mac

Hi!

I was having the same problem as you, I've bought an mini displayport to hdmi adapter, setup the external display to the correct resolution (1920x1080), but the image wasn't clear enough for me to use it to work, it was fine to see movies but not work.

Since I couldn't make the image as clear as I want, I end up returning the hdmi adapter and buying an mini displayport to vga one. With the vga one I'm getting the image clear as expected.

Hope it help you in some way.
