Just bought a new 15" 2.5 A/G and want to install a Vertex 3 SSD to replace the HDD. Despite reading & watching the "how to's", I'm not exactly clear if I simply insert the included restore disc after I do the upgrade or do I need a data transfer kit?
I plan to migrate data from my old MBP w/SL(10.6.8), after the upgrade?
The problem with playing the odds is that they ALWAYS catch up with you and show no mercy :-)
I'd assume from his name that stage4survivor has faced threats far more serious than a flaky SSD 🙂
Been through the Gates of **** and came out on the other side when most thought I was doomed, including me! Lung cancer metastacised to the brain is a tough one but, since I'm sans treatment for 12 years, I'm fairly satisfied! ;-)
Here's the plan:
Remove HDD, replace with OWC extreme SSD, insert restore disc then, if functioning optimally, replace ram with 16gb.
If there's a problem, I have to go back in anyway to do the ram upgrade.
If things go as I hope, I'll migrate the stuff on my old MBP to the new one via F/W 800.
I'll hold on to the old ram & HDD in case I have to use my 3 year AppleCare.
