Uprez 960x540 to 1920x1080

Hi,

I imported some footage from my Canon t3i at 960x540 and now I wish I had imported it at 1920x1080 (the footage from the camera is now deleted). Can I use Final Cut Pro 7 or MPEG Streamclip to convert the footage to HD? I know I can put the SD footage in an HD timeline, but I doubt that'll increase the quality, probably even lower it. So I just wanted to know what the best course of action would be to uprez the footage so that I can make a 1920x1080 video of my project. Thanks!

Okay, thanks. I've never used compressor before so I'm not exactly sure how to upscale and upres my project. The "frame controls" tab isn't active, so it doesn't let me change any settings in it, and I can't find anything online that gives a step by step tutorial for this. Would you be so kind as to give me a step by step guide to do that or point in the direction where I can find something like "Compressor for Dummies"? 😀 Thanks.

The HD version of my video looks pretty good now. It's significantly better than my 960x540 version. How exactly is it able to make it look better though? It's kind of a mystery to me. My original footage was shot in HD and I used iMovie to import it at 960x540 (instead of 1920x1080, which I should have). Is the potential for the footage to be converted into HD somehow inside the imported SD footage? Or is uprezing it in Commpressor a sort of fake way of making it look like it's HD? I'm not quite sure how converting SD into HD is possible, but if it was originally in HD then converted to SD and back to HD again, will it be true HD?
