I recently had a library on a desktop computer and I moved all those songs from that library onto my new macbook, then got more songs afterwards.

Everytime I try to sync my songs onto my iPhone, I get an error message that says "iTunes could not copy "(song name)" to the iPhone because the file could not be read or written." and then it stops syncing completely, so the rest of the songs after that don't get put on my iPhone. Please help

iPhone 4S, iOS 5.1

Does the song play in iTunes?

  • mBolton4 Level 1 (0 points)

Yeah it'll play in iTunes, and the songs show up on my iPhone but aren't clickable or whatever

Oh ok, so they are greyed out?! Are they imported songs from cd's or obtained by what I will say, skillfully aquired?

Skillfully aquired lol and yeah, greyed out. I can't seem to figure out how to fix this, so I figured I would ask the community before I just reset everything and start from scratch

Now that I understand they are "skillfully aquired" lol, it is probably the file format! The format would probably be compatible for the computer, but it may need to be converted to AAC!

Those should be of some help! Try one first, and let me know how it works before you go and do your whole library!

Ok, so I dont think that I have ever been more mad at a program than I am right now.  So I had about 120 songs on my iPhone that I all bought myself, but about 80 of them were on my computer.  So I imported them into my iTunes library then I tryed to sync all my music back on; including the other forty songs.  But when I did that, all of the 80 songs wouldnt sync.  They work perfectly fine on iTunes, but they will just not sync!  I have tried dragging them into playlists and everything.  I am not new to iTunes, and I completely understand why people steal music and jailbreak their devices.  All the stupid copyright laws and sharing stuff mixed with a poorly written program makes everything so difficult!  I completely understand why people try to root their iphone and manually drag the songs on, because there isn't something saying "no! don't do that!  Even though you bought the song you can't do that!"  If Apple was so concerned with copyright, then they should really try to fix iTunes and make it easier for people to use, because otherwise, they are really turning people away from paying for their music.  I know quite a bit about computers and have been around, and if iTunes is messing with me, I am positive that it would be insanely confusing for an old person, or someone who just wants to put music on their iPod and doesnt want to deal with all this stuff that he has no idea about.  Well, sorry about the huge long complaint, but it is so annoying, and I am sure that many people will agree with what I just said!  Oh and if anyone does have advice, feel free to let me know.  Thanks.

This same problem happens to me too!  Most of them are songs iTunes has transfered from my own CDs.  I think it has to do with the converting them down to smaller music files when transfering them onto your iPhone,iPod or iPad.  On older versions of iTunes it used to do this just fine but it unfortinatly does not anymore.

I really hope this gets reselved!  I know it seems like a petty thing to complain about but my essential music doesn't work on my music player.

Hi, I had this sort of problem, it would not sync one of my songs. I had the album synced onto another computer as well, so I just deleted the album from the computer that would not sync the song onto my phone and then used home sharing and downloaded it onto my computer again. Then I synced my phone onto the computer (the comeputer that originally would not sync it) and it would download the song just fine. This is the only thing that worked for me, and since it was only one song it did not take that long, however if it is a lot of songs it may take I while.

    I hope this helps!

iTunes is a mess.  How do people put up with this?  Apple has to get this together before Google passes them.

my Apple losssles songs won't load. I converted those songs of of CDs that I purchased and chose Apple Lossless to reduce the file size, Pretty pathetic that I can't ad Apple format songs to Apple product.

I just had a similar problem. I installed iTunes on a new computer and when I tried to sync the songs on my iPhone with the computer some of the songs got wiped off the iPhone. They are on the pc; how do I put them back on the iPhone? I've bought them so I shouldn't have to buy them again.

I am having this same problem! It has only been happening recently but it seems to be extremely random - like it's a different song or movie everyday! All the songs/movies I've had problems with have been bought right from itunes, so I do not understand why they will not go onto my iPhone. I am so FRUSTRATED with this - I literally have 6 songs on my iPhone 4s right now because when I try to sync, the first song it tries to sync seems to be randomly "not found" and NOTHING goes on my phone. It's literally a different file everyday - this just seems like a joke to me. How can this be fixed?? It's utterly ridiculous that this is a problem right now - I am ready to stop buying Apple products because I've had so many uncessary issues with them lately. Someone help!

Sometimes it is better to set it to manually sync only checked items instead of autosync whenever you connect your phone. On the music tab when connected you could try sync selected playlists instead of sync all music. You should not have to go through all of that just to add new music.

same thing happened to me.  another weird thing is that some of these songs were successfully synced before to my iphone4 but when i tried to re-synced after doing some editing on my playlists, some of the songs are are now having errors for syncing.
