iCal file is now populated with duplicated data throughout.

My iCal calendar is corrupted. How do I restore an earlier iCal from Time Machine?

I should clarify that I'm not running MobileMe or iCloud, and that I'm syncing my iCal file(s) with an iPod touch 2nd generation.

Further, with the help of another thread, i found the location where iCal stores its information, but restoring earlier versions of the contents of Library>Calendars only momentarily restores iCal, but it reverts to mass duplication in every Day field within minutes.

I rely on iCal every day for important stuff. Can someone please advise?

Finally seemed to have solved the problem, thanks to a combination of posts at the links below.

Restored my LIbrary>Calendars folder from a day-old Time Machine copy, deleted iCal preference files, and disabled calendar sync with my iPad and iPod touch in iTunes. I suspect it was the latter that was messing up the "recurring" setting on a bunch of events (some from over a decade ago) and extending them through to the present.

Good thing I had the Time Machine copies; I'd just done a full recycle backup yesterday on my primary backup, and wouldn't have had copies to retrieve.
