I am sorry to reply so late.

Answer to the first reply:

The service has started on February 5th so it was not available before than.

You are using your phone as a modem to access to EVDO network at EVDO speeds.

There is no difference in speed compared to air cards.

Since there is no express cards available for EVDO this is the only solution for EVDO on MacBook

I just purchased my MacBook Pro & posted the same question. I resolved this issue by using my broad band connection on my Verizon Pocket PC (Phone, PDA & Internet)

What is even better is that I only pay $49.95 for this internet connection instead of the 79.95, I paid for my Verizon broadband connection using Verizon's PC5220.

Try using your MacBook Pro Bluetooth feature.

While I am not sure if this will work on a MAC.

Dell plans to launch the Dell Wireless 5700 EVDO ExpressCard for use on the Verizon Wireless network around May/June.

Dell plans to launch the Dell Wireless 5510 3G HSDPA ExpressCard for use on the Cingular network in August/September

The Dell Wireless 5700 and 5510 ExpressCards will be in the 34mm format

sozkan,

What is a "V3?" Are you using your phone or a PC 5220 modem card w/ some sort of USB adaptor/interface?

I just bought my MacBook this weekend and had no idea a PCMCIA slot was not included. That blew away my Verizon Wireless Broadband capability.

the 1st of Novatel's Merlin X620 cards in the 34mm format has been released by DELL and is compatible w/ MAC's new 10.4.7 update (apparently drivers are w/in this update). it works on Verizon's network and is being offered w/ a month free after purchase of $179 (that's the equivalent of $59off). Novatel is supposed to release carrier versions in both Verizon and Sprint stores... but if you want it now now now, here it is

EVDOInfo.com is posting updates as soon as new information regarding ExpressCard EVDO involving Mac is known. Here is a link to their update page. These guys really know their stuff when it comes to EVDO for Mac or PC.

One more thing... The Novatel V640 is reportedly the EVDO ExpressCard that will be compatible with the Mac. It hasn't been released yet. The Dell 5700 is a rebranded Novatel Merlin XV620, which is, I'm assuming, a different card.

Not an expert here. This is just what I've gleaned from the links posted by SubjectMATTER and EVDOinfo.com. Fire away at me if I'm wrong.

I know one thing for sure, however. EVDO support for ExpressCard, regardless of manufacturer, is moving as slow as molasses in December. It's amazing that so many manufactureres, including Apple, have sent their customers back into the dark ages in regard to EVDO support just so they could be the first to stick an ExpressCard slot (presently a worthless hole) in their laptops.
