Compatible Wireless Card Help

I have a 15" Powerbook Titanium 867MHz/ 768mb ram. I am looking for a wireless card that is compatible with my computer. The original airport card is too expensive, so im intersted in a third party card. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks.

BTW, no mac support to be expected from Belkin, you are own your own with their products in my experience.

And that's an excellent reason not to buy them. Instead, support some other company that has taken the trouble to become conversant with Macs and will actually appreciate your business, instead of blowing you off as a nuisance if you ever need tech support. Belkin has been happy to cash in on the Mac market in any way that doesn't require it to learn anything, while other companies have worked with the Mac for years, tailored their products to work well with the Mac OS, and are eager help you when something goes wrong. Why not give your business to them?

Dr. S

My TiBook is similar to yours: 667MHz, 768Mb Ram w/ OS 10.4.6

I purchased a linksys wpc54g (CardBus type) from CompUSA and works great without any excess software or hardware required. I had never used wireless before I purchased this card so I was not familiar with what CardBus was. At first I was looking at the picture on the front of the box and it seemed to me the card was oriented for a PC CardBus slot on the right side of the computer (vs. left side for TiBook). I surmized that the wireless card pin-out is probably universal so I purchased it and tried it -- works great!

You'll need to make sure you set up your internet connection to be Airport (via System Preferences - Network) and configure the "options" selection in the same to look for wireless receivers automatically, otherwise you will not see any activity with the card. (P.S. I use mine exclusively for travel so I do not use a dedicated receiver at my home)

I just spent the day researching cards for my 500 MHz G4 Titanium PowerBook (15"). Lots of mixed reports, but I ended up buying this card:

Buffalo Air Station WLI-CB-G54S Turbo G Wireless Notebook Adapter

I actually bought another card (a linksys) in case the Buffalo didn't work. I'm running Mac OS X 10.3.9 and installed the AirPort update for this version of OS X.

Plugged the card in (it was instantly detected, and powered up), turned AirPort on from the icon in the Menu bar, and it detected my Netgear router. Works like a charm. The cool part - $39.99 from Best Buy.

Hope this helps.
