was woundering what all dose the standard 1 year warrently on any newly purchased macbook pro NOT cover that the apple care protection plan DOSE cover?
i ask because id like to save that $349, just dont have that extra cash to purchase the care plan at the moment. thanks to all replys in advance!

The standard warranty doesn't cover anything during years 2 and 3 of your ownership unless you're in the Eurozone, in which case the factory warranty is two years. AppleCare extends the factory warranty and phone support through years 2 and 3 outside the Eurozone; I presume it also covers year 3 there, though it wouldn't be much of a bargain.
AppleCare doesn't cover anything during the first year that the warranty doesn't, except extended phone support.
There is no Verses. Applecare extends the standard 1 year warranty into a 3 year warranty and give you 3 years of free phone tech support. Normally there is only 90 days of free phone tech support.
It does not include, does not cover, anything more then the standard one year warranty.
Shootist007 is incorrect. The 1 year factory warranty offers more support than the Extended AppleCare warranty.
In a nutshell, Apple covers your battery fully for one year. If you buy AppleCare Extended Coverage it only covers you in the event of a manufacturing defect... otherwise, even with AppleCare, you will have to pay to replace your battery.
They cover the exact same things, except AppleCare extends your phone support as eww said. You will get a much longer warranty, however, if you buy AppleCare. If you don't buy it, and something goes wrong after 370 days (as an example), then you'd have to pay for it.
And FYI, Shootist007 IS correct. Perhaps this is a recent change. When I got my 2010 MacBook Pro, I was told it would extend the warranty one year. Recently, however, I was told that AppleCare would extend my Mac purchase's warranty two years.

Battery is NOT covered to the same degree after the 1-year factory warranty, EVEN WITH APPLECARE! Therefore, the one-year factory warranty DOES offer increased protection over the EXTENDED APPLECARE warranty.
Maybe he WAS right, but he IS NOT CURRENTLY right, nor was he on the date OP posted.
Also, this is for OP, this may have been changed but to the best of my knowledge you can still buy AppleCare for up to a year after you purchase your computer (note that this is not the case for iPhones or iPads, only computers).

The battery is considered a wear item, like Tires or Brakes in a car. If it fails due to hard use, it is not covered.
You are both right in the sense that the one-year factory warranty AND AppleCare both do NOT cover the battery EXCEPT in the case where it fails due to defects in materials or workmanship.
Batteries are consumables. They are not covered on exactly the same basis as other parts under any warranty or care plan, because they are not expected to last as long. As a matter of common practice, Apple will usually replace a battery that fails to hold 80% of its rated full charge capacity within the first year, the presumption being that it ought to do so unless its cycle count is sky-high or it shows signs of abuse. After the first year, and especially if the cycle count is unusually high, Apple may decline to replace a battery for free even if AppleCare is in effect. AppleCare does increase the likelihood of a free replacement, and of course (and far more importantly), it covers the rest of the computer — the expensive parts — through years two and three.
One doesn't pay $250-$350 for AppleCare to save $129 on a battery. One buys AppleCare in case of a display or logic board failure that would otherwise cost many hundreds of dollars to repair.
