it's **** near 3 am and i've had a bit of a problem getting situated with my mbp, and just when i think things are well.....DISASTER! a dvd gets stuck. however, true to mac and mac user form i read your post and lo and behold, all i needed to do was turn my frown (or mbp) upside down (and hit eject). thanks for the help. to any of those that stumble upon this advice in a similar situation, take a deep breath, turn your joint upside down, hit eject, and relax. jobs and the boys are looking out for us (and the gates box converts).

I bought my MBP on Thursday - May 4th. Drove 3 hours to get it. First disc I put in got stuck.
Spent Friday and half the weekend trying to figure it out.
When I spoke to customer service the lady offered me more memory???? I told her I just wanted a new MBP. Mine was less than 24 hrs old when "superdrive" failed. Friday afternoon and she tells me she'll call me back Monday.
If I treated my customers like that I would be out of work!!
I tried everything in this forum and on the Apple site to get the disc out - and finally did, but didn't fix the problem.
Updated firmware and even restored to factory settings. No dice.
Apple needs to quickly replace faulty products and quit stalling. They obviously know they have a problem with optical drives in the MBP - just look at this forum!
My first experience with Apple turns out to be a huge disapointment - and I was thinking of changing everything over??
Will post again when if or when I get a call on Monday.
