Random email not being received

Have been running into a strange issue with my iCloud email address the past week or so. Some email that is being sent to me is not arriving. Here is what I've been looking at.

  • Missing email is not being filtered to another folder.
  • Missing email is not in my junk mail folder
  • A single sender can deliver many emails, only some of which arrive. Have tried this with several other non-iCloud email addresses which I own and verified that not all email is being received.
  • Senders of the email which never arrive do not receive any automated delivery failure noticies.
  • the account still has a me.com address - but it has been migrated to iCloud.

Really ***** because I've only just completed a migration away from gmail. If I can't rely on iCloud to receive email I'm going to have to go through the hassle of getting another address and notifying everyone.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Well this is interesting. Unlike "fewo" I am just sending e-mails within Canada and just 10 km down the road to various e-mails addresses (gmail, government etc.). A couple years ago my mac mail was disappearing in cyberspace when sending it to a colleague in England. He just simply never received my messages and it took months to figure out that he wasn't just ignoring our work collaboration. I am an huge Apple supporter and have generally always been really happy with all the products and support. But this is unacceptable. It has the potential to make people miss reporting deadlines or other important work related correspondence. You have really got me thinking... Why would we pay for this when there is gmail and Dropbox for free and they work?

I have exactly the same problem, and (for me at least) it is server-side. Sean, a senior adviser for iCloud support, has been looking into it since 8th May but no luck so far. Some emails come through but others don't: of the 19 emails sent from mobilemesupport@apple.com to discuss the issue, for instance, only 4 have come through to my mac.com iCloud account. The remainder have only gone to my backup account. I think this might be the same problem this user is having:

but I've not had a response to my response to him/her. Would you mind if I passed this thread on to the person looking at the problem for me please? I've relied on my account for years, and I'm REALLY reluctant to abandon it now. Perhaps if this is affecting other accounts it can be fixed by finding out what they have in common.

All best wishes

Alex

I'm having the exact same problem. I'm trying to get off using Gmail. Some e-mail is not getting delivered to my iCloud account. After not receiving an expected e-mail, I spoke to the sender on the phone and they sent the e-mail while I was talking to them.

"Did you get the e-mail I just sent you."

"No."

"Do you have another e-mail address I can try?"

"My Gmail account."

"OK, I just sent it, did you get it?"

"Yes."

I see this is an old post but I have been having so many issues with iCloud since signing up. Some people simply don't receive my e-mails or they get unknowingly sent to their spam folder. Then sometimes people can't send to my icloud account and it gets bumped back to them with various messages - some saying there isn't enought space which is simply not true.

None of these issues happened before I signed up to iCloud. When I had .mac or .me it was not an issue. Now I don't know if people just aren't getting my e-mails or if they just don't reply. It is so frustrating. Apple support said it was a server issue and there is nothing they can do because the messages show up in my "Sent" folder. But this is definitely an Icloud issue. My husband never signed up for icloud and just continued to use his .mac or .me e-mail and he does not have the issues I'm having with iCloud e-mail.

I hate the idea of switching to gmail but this issues seems unresolvable. Anyone else still having this issue?

Yes an old post but still the same problem....obviousely Apple doesn't care much about it.

About 3 weeks ago, I found out, that some mails to my Icloud adress never arrive (Information about my stay in France, payment information etc, nothing really strange).

I had these mails sent to another mail account which was no problem. Then I tried forwarding them to Icloud - no chance. Altered the text, only sent the pdf...no improvement.

What other mails do not arrive of which I never find out????

This morning I called Icloud Support which was pretty annoying. An eastern-european woman answerd the call, speaking some sort of German. She tried to solve a problem by reading some english Tutorial, translating in German - but far away from the real Problem. A last try to explane that Apple blocks the Mail and wheather she could look into that problem or not. She said something like she had to check and off she was....wow....I wonder if I'm going to hear anything from Apple to this matter...somehow I don't believe.

It's about time for Apple to solve this, otherwise, Icloud is no longer an option for me....very very sad....

I'm not defending Apple here, but it has been written that Apple filters mail based on what it considers to be objectionable keywords. So if you write an e-mail with the words "b@rely leg@l" (the actual words), the recipient will never receive it. The filtering is bound to cause some false positives.

Don't like it? Find another e-mail provider.

I think these more recent emails are about separate issues. Something on the server meant emails being sent to my iCloud (formerly .Mac) account weren't coming through. The problem was possibly resolved but I lost these emails -- about six weeks' worth -- and so have now abandoned this account. As the last poster suggests, I found another email provider (my own hosting solution) and haven't had any problems since.
