I contacted the advertising agency (Smowtion) servicing my website. They instructed me to block the offending URLs in my dashboard. Not sure that this will help anyone else, but I'm hoping this resolves the problem for visitors to my site.

Here are the URLs that I blocked: (I wouldn't click on them if I were you)

http://bitly.com/Jd1yvK
(which redirects the the URL below)

http://mobilewinner.org/contest/mobile-winner-us/?c=yaa-Wifi (I opened this one using Internet Explorer and had no ill effects other than seeing the spammy message)

I have just had this happen on my iPhone. Turning on the pop-up blocker (Settings-->Safari-->Block Pop Ups) didn't immediately solve the problem.

Doing so and THEN restarting the phone I can now use safari without issue. I have not tried disabling Block Pop Ups yet...I think I'm going to enjoy not being worried for a few minutes.
