iTunes isn't saving my preferences

hey guys

Recently my iTunes started playing up - first it came up with a error saying it was unable to save the iTunes file. but now its worse, its forgetting my preferences every tine I start it up it shows me the licence agreement which I accept - as I usually have sound-check on I tried putting it on then exiting and re-opening it, sound-check magically turns off! also when I start iTunes up it shows me the iTunes welcome/tutorial screen.

refer to following article to remove SC file(s):

Win 7/Vista http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2363

WinXp http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1776

Proceed to repair or reinstall your Quicktime.

START > CONTROL PANEL >

Win7/Vista - PROGRAMS N FEATURES

WinXP - Add n Remove Rrograms

hightlight QUICKTIME and click CHANGE then REPAIR.

I only had to do what the article said that sorted it i didnt bother with the repair stuff as quicktime after restarting said it had an update.

I'm having this issue as well. Every time I start up iTunes it resets to default. I have tried reinstalling completely. I have reinstalled Quicktime. I tried deleting the hidden files as the article linked above suggests, but those files were not there (the directory was empty). I even tried repair functions on both quicktime and itunes. Does anyone know a solution to this?
