I have an email that is stuck in outbox

Ive tried the airplane mode method but it doesnt work - my email just has the circle spinning next to the email that wont send..

To delete my outbox and I have iOS 9.3.1

Turn airplane mode on

Turn off phone

Wait 5 seconds

Turn phone back on

Go to mail

Delete email

Turn airplane mode off

I know this thread is a bit old, but just in case anyone finds it here is the solution:

1) Put the iPhone in Airplane mode

2) Open the Mail app

3) Go to the Outbox

4) Click Edit, click the circle next to the stuck message to select it

5) Click Delete

6) Take the iPhone out of Airplane mode

7) Return to the Mail app. :-)

with the following modifications:

step -2: turn off Wi-Fi

Step -1: turn off cellular data and put the phone in airplane mode

step 0: turn the phone off, then on again (after waiting a little while)

follow the rest of the steps 2 through 5 exactly as Troy wrote (step 1 is already done), and of course add to step 6

"turn wi-fi / cellular data back on"

Voilà! No more message from **** in the outbox!

This didn't help me either. What did was restarting the phone, airplane mode on. Then turn it off went to mail. There was a message about trusting my mail sever which i said OK to then it worked. I think this message wasn't visible for some reason so the messages wouldn't send using an unconfirmed server. This may of been due to a software update but i really wish mail wold remember when i OK a mail server.

So... I just read all(except the one JUST before this one) of the tips and none worked for me. I wasn't in the mood to delete me account... Then it dawned on me, Mail doesn't do anything when you are in Airplane mode. I had a message that was trying to go for over a week... spinning wheel and a grayed out Edit button like everyone else.

I set the phone to Airplane mode, went to Outbox, and then I was able to edit and delete the bad message. Took me about 5 seconds all in. Hope this helps.

So I too can attest that the Airplane mode trick does work. (Maybe I won't stop reading so fast.)
