Using powered USB to transfer data.

Hello all,

Can I use a powered USB hub (connected via the camera adaptor) to transfer data to iPad. I have the new iPad and saw this information on another forum as a means to transfer data to the iPad. However, since it doesn't "come up" on the screen as on the Mac, is there a way to use it for data transfer - ie Pages files, other types of files. Is there a way to have the iPad recognize a thumb drive connected in this way?

Thanks for any help.
