I call trumps again as the iblacklist app has the function to stop incoming blocked and unknown numbers.

Again, no. iBlacklist has anonymous caller rejection (something many landline service providers have anyway for unknown numbers). In that case, when a call connects to your handset (and yes, they ALL still connect), if the number is unknown or has the caller ID blocked bit flag, then iBlacklist drops it.

iBlacklist does not actually block anything, it only makes a decision after the call has connected. While that might meet your needs, it is simply incorrect to refer to that as call blocking - it is not. It is a form of call filtering and rejecting, but not actually blocking anything (and if a human caller is on the line, they will know it connected and was then dropped, while with true carrier blocking, the call never connects at all).

The fact still remains that the majority of iPhone users want this function and it is not impossible or hard for that matter to implant this function to the iOS software. It does what people want it to do by leaving your phone free from harassment by spam callers ( and you can still use the phone while someone is trying to ring you as the demonstrations show) there are countless forums with people asking for this function so come on apple listen to your costumers an give them what they want!!

Thanks Michael. Whether it's called blacklisting or call blocking or call rejection or whatever. Let's not split hairs here.

Here is what I want from Apple for my IPhone. Very simple. When a call comes in from a number that I don't want to hear from again, I want to be able to "reject" connection from that number in the future unless I change my mind. The BEST way to that is to allow me LOCAL control with my very own handset with no intervention from the carrier or a third party app. Maybe not truly call blocking, but seems to be what most folks want. Apple can simply do THAT with a software update to EVERY IPhone in the field. Would a nd should also apply to texts!

Completely agree, I have been loosing my mind trying to find this function in my phone to no avail. My old phones all had it, can't see why a phone that has so many other capabilities can not achieve such a simply task as block calls & texts from specific contacts or ban calls from blocked callers....

Lets hope they check this feed soon and adjust accordingly!

They don't check this feed at all: https://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

I would suggest you ask for a feature that silences any incoming call or sms text from a number you have selected. You can do it manually yourself now, create a contact for the number in question, give it a silent ringtone.

But I would still rather have the cell carrier actually block the call before it reaches me.

Since you can't block the recurring spam or annoying number, this is what I do: I create is as a contact called either SPAM or DON'T ANSWER, followed by a number ( I have about 10 of these now), remove any vibration, and assign it the cricket ring tone. That way when I hear the discreet ring, I know not to bother answering. It works really well.

I've done that for years, but I just assign them a silent ringtone (easily found and downloaded online from numerous places).
