Can't delete Genius playlists on iPad

Hello,

I'm having a problem with my playlists on my iPad 2. I can sync the playlists I have ok from my iMac, etc., and I'm using iCloud and iTunes Match too, but for some reason my iPad has also made some Genius playlists on its own (not on my iMac or iPhone though) and I can't find any way to delete them. Does anyone know how to delete these? Thanks!

Syncopator is having the same problems as me, all of the advice given by others is not working. One piece that I can add to the discussion is that this is probably a problem related to iPad1's. I have an iPad1 and an iPad3, and the 3 doesn't have this problem at all. The 1 has these weird genius playlists that can't be opened, can't be deleted, tapping them doesn't do anything but start playing a song from the unopenable playlist. No delete X can be made to appear by holding down the tap on the genius playlist.

In other words, the iPad1's genius is pretty dumb. I would love to get rid of these unuseful playlists, since I am giving my iPad1 to my wife, and trying to explain to her why she should just ignore the 10 genius lists and scroll down to the "real" playlists is just frustrating her and boggling me. She needs it to make sense and be simply.

Any help would be appreciated

Thank you RFS, but... sadly, when I look at the iTunes Store menu, I do not get that option. I get these three options:

  • Turn off iTunes Match
  • Update iTunes Match
  • Update Genius

There are of course other things on that menu list that are not applicable.

I have done the update genius thing, which seemed counterintuitive, but someone suggested that earlier in this thread. That didn't help.

So why am I not seeing the same thing you are on that menu? All my software is totally up to date. And I am not using genius playlists on my Mac, nor on my iPad3, nor is there any hint anywhere that they exist on those two devices. I manually manage the creation of my own playlists, and I manually manage which ones are on my iDevices.

Of course I will kick myself if the answer to my dilemma is obvious. Hopefully someone can help.
