Iphone 4 WIFI signal keeps dropping.

Hello could someone help me? I have had my iphone 4 for about 4 5 months as this was a replacement. But now i keep having this issue. I have had it for about a month. I connect to my internet and it works perfectly. Surfing the web facebook all works. But soon as i go on to youtube and click on a video every 4 - 5 minutes the wifi signal drops and to get it back i have to ecit to the home screen and wait for a couple of seconds. Then i go back onto the video and it happens again. This happens on alot of WIFI connections not just my one what could be the issue?

I have found a workaround to this:

Settings -> General -> Cellular -> Cellular Data - set this to OFF

This forces the iPhone to always use WiFi for data rather than periodically dropping the WiFi connection to use the phone network instead. You'll want to switch this back on again when you leave your house or WiFi area.

This is not a fix - Apple need to address the bug - but since doing this my iPhone WiFi connection has been rock solid whereas before it would drop constantly throughout the day.

The downside is that the phone won't receive picture/MMS messages via the phone network until this is re-enabled.

Hope this helps - certainly made my days less frustrating!

I find this issue very frustrating!

I didn't want to rename my network (not at this time anyway) and since I don't have issues with anything else using the network, including my iPad mini, I didn't feel it was necessary (yet). I have tried jazzmoose's suggestion and so far it works for me. I don't have a problem turning Cellular Data off when I am home. I hope Apple fixes this issue with their next release!

Just tried this solution, renamed SSID and changed from channel 6 to 11. Reconnected right away and staying on for now. thanks for help. I guess the new SSID gets the iphone to reinitialise its settings and that does the trick. I am guessing IOS upgrades force a review of network settings to make work OK. Seem this type of issue before on other Apple devices.

Thanks again

None of the mentioned solutions seem to work for me, iphone4s, constantly dropping my home wifi, really frustrating since my wife's iphone5 working ok as is our iPad , no signal drop,,, but seems to be holding so far since I've tried it with activating my VPN app on my iphone and that's going on 20 mins without a signal drop, prior to that it was dropping every 30 seconds or so until I switched off/on wifi in settings each time

Iphone 4 WIFI signal keeps dropping.
