Deleted emails in Apple Mail IMAP account reappear after deleted

For the last week or so I suddenly began experiencing this same syncing problem. Email will show up and syncs nicely only on iphone and ipad but with take 12 hours or more to sync in apple mail on my macbook pro (os 10.8.5). I recently updated my os from 10.6.8 and thought that was the problem, but when I called Apple they said it was a GoDaddy problem. Called GoDaddy and they said it was an apple mail (or email client) problem since my emails were sending and receving fine on the server...that they were doing just what they were supposed to be doing.

Everyone passes the buck and we sit here spinning our wheels. Argh!

GoDaddy's only solution was to offer me a host email account (?) that would be around $60-150 per year, etc. bleh.

Is moving servers my only option at this point? Ideas?

I don’t know the root cause, but I do seemed to have found a workaround. When I force Mail closed and then reopen it, the problem stops.

Try turning on 'Use Idle command' (Advanced tab of the Mail account preferences.) Godaddy appears to support this now.

This fixed it for me too! I was having the problem with AOL mail and it was making me nuts. I am also receiving incoming mail so it's all good here. THANK YOU!

I am using Imap and my email disappear and if I close and reopen email they reappear. I have been on phone with Apple Senior Techs and Go Daddy Senior Techs and the they blame each other. The arrogance of both suck.

This all happened when Upgraded to El Capitan. I am running a business and I have a staff closing and opening their iMail every 30 minutes. Does anyone have an answer?

This suggested unchecking "Use IDLE command..." did not work for me neither. What the answer to this issue is is still unclear. I will keep on searching. Keep you posted

I think it's an Apple problem because I have the same exact problem but with Hotmail.
