How to change Apple Id in iMessage
Hi
When switching on iMessage I get the iMessage password screen but for some reason my apple Id is displayed incorrectly and therefore I can't verify.
How can I change it ?

Okay so I just had this problem and I solved it like this:
Go to i message then click on send and receive then click on ur apple id. Then write random psswords till the box that has the option for resting ur password pops up. Then click reset. Then there is an option for changing ur Id. Then all u need to do is to fill in ur correct ID and password. If this didn't work, after clicking on changing apple ID, exit out and then go to setting again.
Can someone help...I just changed my apple ID and logged out of iCloud on my Mac. I logged back into iCloud but now my iMessage is not working on both my Mac and my iPhone and neither is FaceTime. Everytime I try to send a message on either it says "message not delivered" or "message could not be sent because recipient is not registered with iMessage" even though I know for a fact they are. I am very stressed, please help
you just need to go to setting on your iphone then messages then send & receive then there you are you just change up to the top in apple iD

I went through all the tips and none of them work for me. I recently changed my Apple ID email and it now asks for the password for my old Apple ID email when I try and log into iMessage.
1) I am now logged out of iMessage. When I go to "Send/receive" > "Use your Apple ID for iMessage", it automatically pops up the entry for my old email. In other words, I can't click the "Use your Apple ID for iMessage" and proceed normally.
2) Then, if I try and insert the wrong password several times, I only get a "reset password" option, not an option to change my Apple ID. I tried resetting my password but that did not help either.
HELP! How do I insert my new email?
Hey I had the same exact problem as you and I figured it out.
Go on your settings- icloud- sign out (bottom of page)- keep on my iPhone- turn off your find my iPhone
Now go back in to iCloud under settings and log in with the new apple id
I'm having the same problem. I just entered a password 20 times and it just keeps asking with no option to change the ID.
The Apple ID in iTunes and App store is the new one. The Apple ID for iCloud (in settings) is the old one. I can't sign out because it prompts for a password to turn off Find my Phone.
I can access iCloud from my computer with my new one, but the old one fails.

Try what i posted above your comment & it should fix the issue. That solved the issue on my iPad but not on my phone so i just called apple & they had me change my id back to the old one then log out of iMessage. Now you can change your apple id back to the new one and log in to your iMessage with the new one.
Yes, that worked. I changed my Apple ID to the old email address. Logged out of everything on my phone. Changed the Apple ID back to the desired account and logged back into everything on my phone with that one. All sorted. Thank you.
