iPad 2 Safari Redirect Problem

Hi everyone! I have an iPad2 and for the last few days I have noticed when I go to a website in safari I keep getting redirected to random ad sites. One of the most common ones is play.google.com/........... I tried clearing cache, history, cookies and that didn't do anything. I have restarted in every way possible, I have restored the iPad with a backup and also without but this problem won't go away!!!!! Can anyone help me out? I have no ideas left!! Any help would be greatly appreciated! This occurs on most websites with not much pattern. I have noticed though that certain websites anyways redirect to the same other websites... Thanks in advance for the help!!

Hi all,

Its Not only you.I have this Problem too.

Right now I am at a friends house and the problem still exists in this new network. And for info, this problem is especially in sites I use to read something, like newspaper and stuff.

All of your testing with Cache ect. didnt work out at my Ipad, too. I did this all at the beginning and now I have no idea left, what to do.

Anyone else with an idea?

Hi Nayr0526,

I can confirm being redirected to [https://]play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.spardeals.android when I enter failblog.org in the address bar.

This behavior is new, I was able to browse that site without problems a couple of days ago.

I didn't find any similar postings in other forums so I have no clue what the cause of that issue might be. It seems like a virus.

I have an iPad3, running a jailbroken iOS 5.0.1

Anyone having the same issue?

@Nayr0526: Which other urls cause similar problems?

If I browse to failblog.org, the site is rendering a while and at the end I'm getting redirected to play.google.com, which might be a target url of an ad.

It doesn't seem to have anything todo with DNS or my ISP. I tried different DNS (8.8.8.8 f.i.) with the same result. I went over 3G and got the same result, that's why I don't think the router is involved. Anyway, I reset the router - no change. I tethered over my iPhone's 3G - no difference.

I tried my girlfriends iPad2 and got the exact same redirection.

When I open it on my iPhone, Safari crashes instead of being redirected.
