Big problem with compressed Safari screens.

Somehow I have developed a big problem where all my Safari screens have become compressed. Having selected a particular screen, it shows up as normal but 2 or 3 seconds later becomes severely compressed to about one eighth size.

I have tried the following ...

Cmd plus + Tempoarily brings the full size screen back, but as soon as I move to another screen it all reduces back.

Restart. Opens as reduced size.

Reload page Opens as reduced size

View > Zoom in Same temporary effect as Cmd plus +

Reset Safari No change

Empty cache No change

Getting desperate now ...

Download and apply a 10.6.8 combo update (which I already had anyway).

Repaired permissions. No change in situation.

Firefox is operating normally.

Would anyone have any ideas of what else I could try.

Hi Carolyn,

I tend to use .png files.

A long time ago I found out how to change the format the Screen Shot format was saved in and changed it to .png. (It was possibly using Onyx or a similar app)

Skitch also offers server choices and I use .png there as well.

Using the HTML screen and pasting code from the Skitch page or entering the <img src tags by hand seems to works for .jpg, .png, and .gif that I have used.

Using the Forum's software and Insert Image method does not seem to be bothered about file format either.

The .tif's I have are too large at present to use but I don't get an error message like I do with Photoshop .psd files

EDIT,

It does do something to animated .gifs using that method.

Manual HTML entry.

I do hope you can show up once more, Carolyn. Most grateful for the advice on posting screen shots.

But I was wondering if you had any idea of which element of extentions may have caused the original problem. These are what I had ... WOT, AdBlock, Dictionary, Helvetica the World, Ghostery, Print plus, Translate and Cookie Stumbler ... And the three I most suspect, Resize me, Safari Restore and All Pages Zoom.

Hopeful of hearing from you.

With regards. 71

Hello ∼Bee,

Long time since we crossed paths. Good to hear from you again. Yes, it was a nasty one but I got the help where it mattered. I think you are probably right about resize me, it seemed kind of logical and was one of the three I suspected but as turingtest2 wrote "probably some weird interaction". I tested it on its own with norepeat problem. Hey ho!. Sorry I have no points left for your welcome encouragement.

Keep well, ∼Bee,

Regards, 71
