No sound from iPhone 4.

My iPhone 4 has no sound. I can not hear my music or anything. When I go to the settings>sounds I can hear the ringtones when I click on the volume control but when I am on my homescreen or anywhere else there is no sound. I can get sound from my earbuds though, even the music, but when I take out the earbuds there is no sounds at all. I have checked the silent switch and that is off. When I click the up volume button the ringer box appears but does nothing. Same if I click my down volume button. I have tried resetting my phone and that isn't helping either. Any advice?

Flip the Ring/Silent switch on the side of the phone from silent (red showing) to ring.

The jacksucking method (sorry if that sounds obscene!) mentioned in bibou11's link at the start of this thread worked for me. I was caught in a heavy downpour, with my bag open and the top of my phone unknowingly exposed. I let it dry out gently, (still no sound), then sucked a few times, and, hey presto, all back to normal!!! So glad I check this forum, as my iPhone 4 is, guess what, just out of warranty by 2 weeks and I was beginning to panic! Keep up the good work, guys, and thanks again.

Tried all the solutions that I found online except for jailbreaking the iPhone 4s or shredding it in a blender. After wasting about 6 hours worth of time resetting, restoring, squeezing, blowing, sucking and cleaning my dock connector with alcohol, I decided to take the phone to a reputable iPhone repair shop in Chicago on Southport Avenue. They had my phone's dock connector replaced in 30 minutes for around $60US and it includes a lifetime warranty. The problem could only have been fixed with a replacement. There are two pairs of micro-transistors located over the metal dock connector compartment, not accessible from the exterior. The transistors were both coated with a white "muck", apparently due to heat, humidity, moisture, etc.

I had the same issue with no sound on iphone 4. After trying almost everything someone suggested that I should reset all settings and disable access to the icloud. The reason to disable access is that there might be bug on icloud and after reseting, your phone will automatically take the data from cloud including the bug. Unfortunatelly you will lose your data but the problem should be fixed. It worked for me.
