Thank you. I spoke with MS directly and they said it had to be disks. Anyway, thank you for your help. I'll get a drive that I'll hopefully be able to download the software for.
I'll get you a link to the Mac version (I assume it is the Mac version you need)

Please note that (if you intend to use iCloud) Office is not compatible with it.
I was trying to upload my existing MSOffice for Mac, not buy a new one. I was surprised at their policy and they reiterated it a couple of times -- disks only for non sales. Thank you for this, though.
Oh, I'm sorry, i misunderstood. Take a look at the external superdrive or a cheaper alternative (if you do not think that you will need it often)
Thanks. ;-))
You're welcome.
Not only is there no CD drive, but no Mac OS installation disk. What if I have to reload my OS?
Use the info in this Apple article - note that you must be connected to the Internet to do a reinstall.
Best of luck.

You do that from the Recovery Partition provided for the task.
You do it over the Internet, if you need to.
Holding down the Command and R keys whilst booting will boot into your Recovery partition on your hard drive/flash storage.
Holding down the Command, option and R keys whilst booting will boot you into Internet Recovery (booting your machine from Apple's servers).

Yes, this is common knowledge, if you wanted a CD drive why did you not buy the model that has an internal CD drive?
I haven't had to use a CD/DVD in perhaps two years or more. I don't get this thread at all!
I'm still using dual-layer DVDs for archival storage, so I'm going to be one disappointed pup when the day comes that Apple no longer includes DVD burners in any Mac configuration.
I'm expecting that my next Mac will be a new Mac Pro (whatever is out in 2015, when the AppleCare on my MacBook Pro will expire) and I'll be buying an external then (or even before then - I really would like the capacity of Blu-ray).

Csound1 - why bother to respond if all you have to offer is a condescending reply.
