My "Open Recent" menu is always empty in all three iWorks programs.

I've searched for the plist file and cannot find one for iWorks ('09 but updated to date). I've tried the "

defaults write com.apple.pages NSRecentDocumentsLimit 30" command in Terminal to no avail. I've rebooted Pages each time an attempt was made to modify again to no avail.

Short of a complete re-install I'm open to suggestions. Though I guess I could do that as

Thank you for your response. I did find the 'invisible' User Library, however, in the iWork folder there are two additional folders, "Numbers" and "Pages". The Numbers folder has a My Templates folder inside of a Templates folder, both of which are empty. Figures that, I seldom use Numbers and have configure no custom templates.

The Pages folder has a file named "HyphenationExceptions.plist" which I suspect isn't the one for the open recent menu. There is no folder for Keynote.

Further suggestions? Oh this is a purchased product as well. Not a demo.

David,

That's an interesting difference in the General Preference pane. If I changed something in my system to cause that difference, I don't recall what it was. (As memory begins to fade, I find more and more surprises of my own making.)

If I were you, I would use Titanium's free OnyX to do a thorough maintenance of the system and see if that clears up the problem. Do this only when you have an hour or so to spare in case it takes more time than you expect. In OnyX, there's a tab labeled "Automation" that gives you a menu of maintenance actions that can be triggered to run sequentially. I would do them all.
