I am not sure what you are not understanding. Do you believe this is the first time an iOS device has been unable to move to the next version?

It has happened before and iTunes has never provided a way to manage versions so that you are able to keep a version of an app that works with every device you have. You have to either not update any apps that require a higher iOS, which prevents your other devices from having the new versions, or you have to workaround the lack of version management in iTunes by moving older versions in if you ever have to restore that previous generation device. A third option might be to have different iTunes installs for the impacted devices, but this would also just be another workaround due to a limitation within iTunes. Since it has never existed within the application, to my knowledge, it would be wildly optimistic to believe they would incorporate such a feature before iOS 6 hits the street. While it does remain a possibility, it has been a possibility all along and still does not seem to have made an appearance.

My bottom line is that you are getting all bent out of shape over something that may not occur. I don't claim to know how Apple will handle the situation with IOS-6 and neither do you. Why spend your time worrying about what might happen? Why not wait and see just what does happen?

BS. There has never been an IOS update that can not be applied to specific pieces of hardware. How in **** do you know how Apple will handle it?

The Pod touch first generation cannot have iOS 4 installed on it. I am sorry that you didn't know that before you misspoke in such a grand manner.

In light of this information from apple, why shouldn't i unlock my device... i would really like to hear some pros and cons.
