1st gen iPad and iOS 6

I'm a first gen iPad user. I don't understand why Apple is completely neglecting us. I can understand holding off on the cooler stuff for the newer iPads but we are the people who helped the iPad turn into what it has. Atleast give us and updated email, safari and stores. Why not? Androids have had those features for awhile. Just give us the second best thing out their. Don't let your three year old product fall behind the pack of android tablets. We paid to much for that. This is an Apple product, people respect that. When people ask us if they should buy an iPad, we don't want to have to say "buy an Android, they care about you even when your device is three years old, Apple forgot about us."

The first-generation iPad is barely two years old and it's already obsolete. Ridiculous! Apple makes arguably the most expensive disposable hardware on the market.

Apple's hardware lifecycles are becomming so short I think they should just go to a subscription service and forget about selling their products outright. Just pay a set monthly or annual fee for each product you want and they send you a new one everytime there is a hardware upgrade. That would make more sense than the way they're doing business now.

Was the 1st Generation iPad obsolete yesterday? How did it go to obsolete in 1 day. How will it be obsolete in the fall. Does it get to be not obsolete until then? Will it cease to run any apps or surf the net on the day the iOS 6 is released?

Mobile electronics have always had a much shorter "lifespan" than larger devices. It isn't a conspiracy.

Maybe not completely obsolete, but the resale value has certainly plummeted. iPad 2 came out March 25th 2011 in the UK, so they were selling iPad until at least March 24th. To announce they are not supporting a product that could be under 15 months old is really poor. Apple Macs tend to last for years, not mere months. I know they don't have the cameras or other built in hardware for some of the new iOS6 features, but we'd like the other functions please!
