1st gen iPad and iOS 6

I'm a first gen iPad user. I don't understand why Apple is completely neglecting us. I can understand holding off on the cooler stuff for the newer iPads but we are the people who helped the iPad turn into what it has. Atleast give us and updated email, safari and stores. Why not? Androids have had those features for awhile. Just give us the second best thing out their. Don't let your three year old product fall behind the pack of android tablets. We paid to much for that. This is an Apple product, people respect that. When people ask us if they should buy an iPad, we don't want to have to say "buy an Android, they care about you even when your device is three years old, Apple forgot about us."

It will be a problem in September when the first generation iPad begins to no longer receive any updates, and is slowly unable to run the flowing updates of apps that begin to require iOS 6. As well, any potential security updates will not come to the device. As a family that primarily runs Apple devices, I am uncomfortable with this type of arbitrary business decision.

The other operating system I use largely is Linux, which is obviously a lot less expensive, and I can put up with a lot when the cost is significantly reduced. I have written Apple asking for a technical explanation regarding why the first generation iPad would be incapable of running iOS 6. I'll share it, if I ever get a real response. This has all the appearance of an arbitrary business decision. However, instead of the hope that it would make me want to buy a new one, it makes me reluctant to buy any new Apple device at all and for the first time ever strongly consider exiting the Apple ecosystem.

Thing is, not a lot of people do have the first generation iPad. It was the weakest selling of the three, and I'm sure by now that at least half that own the iPad 1 probably upgraded.

Face it, you've fallen to Apple's release schedule and they can't keep catering to the old devices. The iPad 1 ***** and I'm sure everyone who has one should agree, it has a single core processor, a terrible 256MB of RAM, and since developers essentially don't support it anymore, apps crash constantly.

If you want a OS designed for 4 times as powerful devices, go ahead and have a horrible experience.
