I am having the same issue, only with my iPad. I tried all of the fixes you mentioned.

It seems to have started after upgrading to iOS 5.1.1 (but may have been present before this). It connects to my desktop computer just fine, but won't connect to my laptop. I have tried different usb ports and different cables.

Here's what else I tried (with no luck):

  • system restore to an earlier time
  • different usb ports
  • different usb cable
  • tried a different windows user account
  • tried reinstalling iTunes
  • disabled other services

A few other things:

  • I connected my iPhone 4S (iOS 5.0.1) and this DID work just fine
  • I connected my iPad to a different computer and this also worked fine

Any other ideas? It's confusing because my iPad connects fine to other computers. However, my iPhone can connect without any issues.

I am also getting this same error message, and it all started after I upgraded to 5.1.1 this past weekend. I never had this problem before.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, I have deleted my Lockdown folder, and did pretty much all of the same things that Sp00ler did above, all to no avail.

Come on Apple, this is obviously a problem caused by 5.1.1 - please fix it! - or give us a REAL solution to this problem!
