Trash can sound effect

The default sound effect my trash can used to make when I put something in or emptied it, doesnt work anymore. I have the option for sound effects checked. Does anyone know why this would happen and more importantly how to fix it.

imac g5, Mac OS X (10.4.5)

tua09520, are other system sounds affected? If so you might check the Audio MIDI Setup utility and see if the Format for the Audio Devices is still set at 44100.0 Hz

no all the other sounds are fine only the trash can stopped.

I have the same problem. All allert sounds are working but no sound when I empty the trash.

I did an Archive and Install. That did not solve the problem.

I fixed this on my own computer, and I think it was trashing com.apple.Finder.plist from the ~Library. I hope that's right. It annoyed me when it stopped working. Let us know if it fixes.

you are great man. That did it. I trashed the com.apple.Finder.plist from the ~Library and got the trash sound back.
