Unfortunately, those seem to be mostly cases which could cause heat problems for a notebook PC with high performance CPU, GPU, and memory. And glue-on options might cause damage of their own, and if not they'd be too easy to remove.

A concept that might help is some kind of security dock, maybe something like

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/29222207/landingzone-the-docking-station-for -the-macbook-ai

which doesn't seem too bulky, doesn't block vents, and might be hard to break off; the Kensington lock might be attached to that somehow.

Not quite true, it has ventilation slots that gives your laptop even more elivation PLUS you don't use glue you get 5 screws and a cable lock,Iv'e got the 13'' version:

I can't be mobile with a security dock, it's heavy and very clumsy, I take this to school, use the cable lock when I sit in the library or Starbucks, really works great for me

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. When I look at it I see cheap plastic that does not conduct heat and blocks convection of heat off the aluminum body that is intended to not just look good but provide more surface area to help dissipate heat buildup. 85% of that case is solid plastic, not air holes, especially along the sides of the bottom where the MBP15R has vent air intake slots which would be blocked unless that plastic were redesigned. If it were 15% plastic & 85% holes I'd be more receptive. More heat = more deterioration of internals &/or louder fan noise.

Well, I'm not sure it's 100% plastic, most of people who saw my case actually liked it 😁 but I'm not gonna argue over beauty.

As for heating issues I suffer none of these, no air holes on my MBA but I guess we'll have to wait and see what would they bring up, I sense that Maclock's solution fits my needs and also doesn't harm my device, I believe that if they are a smart manufacturer they probably will solve out your points within their MBP's solution design.

I got my MBP-Retina yesterday. Great piece of hardware though. But it's de facto unsusable! I really don't know what the engineers were thinking while designing it. But without the possibility to secure it it's worthless. As photog I need it in the field and on rock festivals you need it unattended in the press room (mostly tents).

And: I don't buy a slim laptop just to buy some stupid plates or cases that I have to carry around which make the laptop fat and heavy again. I mean I'm really angry about this but I think I have to return it and buy some mobile laptop that can be secured (and I won't buy a MBP with older hardware).

In general I know that for most companies it's mandatory that a laptop has to be secured in the office (at least at my company).

I think Apple did a big mistake to remove the lock because for many this is a no go!

And that's just another reason that I didn't want one - still haven't heard back from the OP on the Kensington fix he was supposed to receive. Maybe you should contact them and see what they're working on and when it will be available (if they don't already have a fix).

I use my Kensington lock every day and night. Up to 10 hours a day... and Apple's had Kensington lock solutions for so long that I was somewhat shocked to see it missing in the MBP-R. If Kensington doesn't have a solution - or at least one in the works - I'd return it for the top-of-the-line non-Retina MBP. That's just me.

yes, Mia. S. told me that they are working hard on a solution and to stay tuned! I still have one week to return my MBP-R but I think they won't have.

I tried to order the Griffin TechSafe as czhechmaster posted. You can order it from Afghanistan but not from Germany. I found it in Germany but instead of $9.99 you have to pay > $40.00 here. Cool hah? Thank you Apple, you are about to make the most loyal followers angry...
