How protect my new Macbook Pro Retina Display without Kensington lock ???

Great concept. I was imagining something like that should be possible. *BUT* why does this page say it's not compatible with the macbook air? That makes me imagine it might not work with the MBP15R either. See:

Does that mean it won't hold firmly? Or just that the MB can't lie flat with such a big think attached to the side?

Just spoke with my friend, she works at the Apple store on 14th street, she said that people came and asked her about the Maclocks MBP-R new lock, they mentioned something about a review for it, I couldn't find anything on the web to indicate one way or another, Drugstore, did the Maclocks rep. approved such a product?

Looks like a good option for people who don't care about blocking most of Apple's carefully-engineered heat convection design of the underside of the MBP15R (and don't mind adding 1/3 of a lb. of weight and a little thickness). BTW, does anyone know how easy it is for a thief to break that underside plastic (which the lock attaches to)?

With the newer models so much thinner and lighter, picking it up and carrying it with you isn't such a hardship.

Lol. All the more reason one needed to be able to use a lock slot, no? It's easier for the snatch 'n grab thief as well.

It looks like the lock mount may be metal and screwed into the case.

Griffin's own tech support pages advise against that combination:

"Is the TechSafe Cable Lock compatible with the 2012 MacBook Pro with Retina Display?

It secures the MBPR, but you can not close the MBPR if the TechSafe Cable is connectetd

It's still the best solution I've seen so far.

If you can find a better one, I'm interested.
