I as well had this problem for a while. I even downloaded an app to be able to sync music to my iPhone (music couldn't sync from my iTunes library).

Thank you for the simple fix. It work perfectly on my windows 10, iTunes 12 that was not recognizing iPhone.

Thank you so much. Your fix worked perfectly(Win10) . I have a windows 10 Dell. I usually only use the cloud for iTunes music managing. Until April21st, God bless you , now I can transfer my many Prince Cd's to my iPhone 6. You are one smart cookie !!Thank you again :-)
