Hi im going away on holiday for a week and cant use phone while im away due to costs of using it abroad,can i charge up phone and then switch off before i go and leave it off for a week ,will it lose all the info or is it like a pc where it stores everything

you've all been really helpful,ill take it along with me ,i think im pretty safe from charges if i check its not connected,but like you say if its in airplane mode it cant connect anyway,i think i will feel a lot better with my iphone with me,its like my personal computer lol,thanks again everyone
No problem for a week. You can still bring it along and use it as an iPod.
Switch Settings > Airplane Mode ON and if the area has Wi-Fi, you can still read your e-mail and surf the web.
ok cheers guys i was going to take it with me but was worried about the data roaming thing as three who in with said some apps could turn on the data roaming even though it is turned off so it worried me,also its a great camera so could be good for that,ive just discovered that my hotel has a wifi zone,so using that wouldnt charge me anything??
Turn Airplane Mode on and the cell radio will be off so no roaming, wi-fi will also automatically turned off but you can switch Wi-Fi back on again.
There are free Wi-fi zone and some are not. You have to find out.
thats good news thanks,it was the roaming thing i was worried about,i assume i can only recieve texts when airplane mode is off?,ill likely have phone off most of the time in a safe but will be handy to have like i said for photos and playing games while im away
You can leave it off for a year and you won't lose anything.
With airplane mode on you will be able to receive iMessages, providing you have wi-fi, but not sms/mms messages.
If you are worried about charges you could just remove the sim card.
You're welcome. BTW, iMessage and FaceTime also uses Wi-Fi.
