Sorry for the late reply... Considering it's low voltage, I wouldn't consider it a very high risk of starting a fire, but you could certainly take precaution and plug it in a garage (some place safe) and see if it will take a charge. If you haven't turned it in to an Apple store by now- what do you have to lose? If anything looks abnormal, unplug it. If it looks like it's taking the charge, leave it be and let it charge, then see if it's going to work. I'm a plumber in a company with 10 guys with company phones that mercilessly abuse our phones in flooded environments, it's possible to bring a phone back from a wet situation. But if it's burned up from wet circuitry, then yes, it's time for a replacement. Good luck.
