search not working

Hi, I just upgraded Aperture and now the search function doesn't work completely. It will work with one field, but when I enter another field to narrow the search nothing comes up, when I know there are photos that should appear. How do I reset this?

Now that it's working, make a new back-up 😮 . Only the Library -- your Referenced Originals have not been changed.

Search is working, seems other things are working Ok, but haven't fully tested. However, when my external drive (with the relocated originals) is connected and turned on, I can't open Aperture. It opens and I can see it, but at the bottom it reads "processing" and spins and spins. When I click on the icon I see "application not responding". Is this just how it is or is there still something wrong?

When I open Aperture and then turn on the external drive it works fine.
