I want to change my apple ID email address

Basically the title says it all, I want to change my current apple ID email address, it was my rescue email so it wouldn't allow, so I deleted my rescue email off but it still won't allow? Any tips?

I have gone to both links. They both get me to the same point:

Asking for answers to questions, which as I said I don't have and not really sure I ever gave Apple answers. So it's a dead end.

Having Apple email me to reset scurity. I don't recieve an email from Apple to the email I thought it went to. Second dead end.

My Apple ID is a working email.

I have an alternative email which is working.

What should be my recuse email is working, but only for a couple of more days. And either Apple is not sending a reset email or for some crazy reason email is not acepting this particular email from Apple. The resuce email has gotten emails from Apple in last day, iTunes.

Hi,

The First link goes to here

Using the Manage Account point to Login I end up on this page

As you can see I have an Apple ID and a Primary email.

The Primary email I added via the second link.

The Second link looks like this

Logging in take me to this page

I can access these two pages without the need to use Security Questions

However I can choose the Password and Security item in the menu at the first link (email and ID page)

and get to see the Questions

The Reset link is my Alternative Email at present. (2nd pic above) If I removed it it would revert to the Primary email

On Previous visits to this page I have been able to change both Questions and Answers (which did not seem that secure but I was the one logging in)

It is possible that an Apple ID was created that long ago that the Security Question never came about.

When that happens and there becomes a need for them you normally get a different page asking you to Create them.

Ralph,

Picture one: My Apple ID

My apple id and primary are already one and the same.

My support Page:

It shows my Apple ID and the Email below, both are the same.

When I go to edit, it takes me to my Apple ID page and I see my Apple ID and Primary email as the same.

I also have an alternative email. I have deleted this and gone back in, but the resuce email is the same on either sign in: Apple Id or Support.

When I go to password and security page(your last pic) the rescue email is still what I saw yesterday and I am not getting an email to where it should be going. It appears that I can't get ride of the rescue email.

HI,

I just checked and like you the second Link and then Edit does take you to the Apple ID page.

This is different from about 4 months ago when I used it to change my Email

What I did was link the Dial-up account to my iCloud ID as I created the iCloud ID.

For the Apple Support Communities that removed the gmail I was using here but would not let me change the Email to something I could continue using in the long term.

I tried using an Alternative one set up on the Apple ID page and then seeing if Apple Support Communities could list it.

That was a No Go as well.

Then some posted a Link to the Apple Support Profile Page and I was able to edit the Email there directly

Ideally I would prefer to list my iCloud ID as the Apple ID (They are in fact the same account) but the Apple ID pages does not allow that either.

I am sorry the link no longer works as I suggested.

It looks like Apple are tightening up on a few things

I want to change my original e-mail/ID to my new e-mail address since I don't use the other account anymore, however I have tried everything in this post and I can change neither even AFTER deleting my backup/alternate e-mail address. Why does apple make this so freaking hard? I have all the passwords and I've deleted the other account yet I can't change my ID? This is dumb!

It took me about 4 retry's but it finally got solved with the last suggestion I should have read! Thanks!

HI,

An Apple ID can be used for iTunes and the App store without any further action needed.

If you want to post here then you first have to create a Alias (or Posting Name)

After that then subsequent logins are like iTunes and the App store.

iMessages and FaceTime require that an Apple ID is "registered" with that particular service.

That is to say they can all be different Apple IDs.

You have not said where you have changed your email or to what end.

You can set up an iPhone to mimic the Mail app on the Mac as far as email addresses go.

These same Addresses can thern be linked to the Messages app on the iOS device.

(i.e. there is some action required by you to get an email in the Messages if that is what you are talking about).

I can't even access the section where one would be able to click on password and security question because they keep on wanting me to verify my old email. And my current email is actually my rescue one. I would like to just switch them but cannot even access manage my account. I need to verify an old email address (my current apple Id) just to access how to change it to a new one...ridic

I have another question. I have been able to change my Apple ID and that shows on iTunes on both my computers and on the My Apple ID on the website. I got the new email to set up to my iPhone and entered as my Apple ID on my iPhone but my iCloud ID won't change. The phone keeps prompting me to enter a password but the ID it lists is the old one. I have tried the old password and the new password. Also, I have gone to settings then iCloud where it will prompt me again for a password but the Apple ID is greyed out and it won't let me change the ID.

This is driving me nuts. Does anyone have any ideas without restoring my phone to factory settings?

Ten Years Ago, before we were so worried about security, I used my real name as my .mac email address and its my apple id as well. I want to change the name because I got marrried, and should not have have used my name anyway. I love apple mail, much better than the other email outfits, but I want to change my email address with apple. I would like to change the id, also, but that is not as important. Please help.
