Deleting download queue on iPad 1

I have several items with download errors stuck in my download queue in iTunes on my iPad 1 that I'm unable to delete or download. I've talked to iTunes customer support and these downloads only show up on this device, not on my account with apple. Wondering if anyone has solved this particular issue with iTunes on the iPad? (I wish apple would put a edit button on that screen!)

If there are multiple apps trying to download at once, only one can download at a time and the rest say "Waiting" until it is then their turn. Try this. Double tap the icon of the Waiting app, and it should resume the download.

If that doesn't work:

• Log out of your iTunes store account. Go to Settings > Store > Sign Out Then press the Home button.

• Then press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously and don't release them when it brings up the Turn Off screen; keep holding them until the Apple logo appears.

• After restart, the Waiting should be gone.

 Cheers, Tom 😉

Thanks for the response. Sorry i didnt give a little more info, just a little background on what I've done.

•signed out of iTunes on device

•shut down iTunes process

•rebooted device, open iTunes, signed back in.

All error downloads are still in queue, their not a "waiting to download" they show up as a "download error", like the file got messed up along the way? There's no edit function on this screen, the only thing I can think of is in settings>general>reset> , but going that route kind of worries me! It doesn't mess anything up, but it is kind of annoying having these download errors that I can't clear?

Resetting all settings might work. When you do that, you reset app preferences and the device preferences like your wallpaper and brightness and things like that. They will restore to factory defaults. This isn't like wiping the iPad - erasing the device.

Have you tried tapping and holding down on any icons that are on the screen for these downloads to bring up the X to delete - or swipe across a progress bar if it shows up? I don't think I've ever seen the "download error" message so I'm not real clear as to what you are seeing on the screen.

You are unable to tap and hold down on the icons of the shows themselves to bring up the X to delete the I presume. Not the download arrow - but the show icons?

The signing in and out of the account tip seems to work quite often in thes situations ** apparently you have tried that as well.

I have seen where a couple of users stated that resetting all settings got them out similar download error scenarios. Usually those were the "waiting" icons errors. I really don't know what else to tell you to try since these are caught in limbo somewhere - unless you try finishing the downloads in iTunes on your computer.

ITunes>Store>Check for available downloads. Maybe you can finish off - or delete the downloads in there - sync the iPad and perhaps theses errors will disappear.

Hey there folks,

I have had the same problem and I found this thread. Perhaps, by now you have already found the answer to your problem, but if not, try this. Very simple and I should have thought of it. Works like a charm and I would assume that it would work on an iPad 1 as well. I found the answer on this page: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3612938?start=0&tstart=0

To get rid of the download error, go to the download page and find the small down-pointing arrow icon next to the "download error. Tap to retry." text. Put your finger on the down-pointing arrow icon and flick (quick short swipe) to the left. The down-pointing arrow icon will be replaced with a "delete" button. Tap the delete button. Then confirm the delete in the modal popup window.

That's it. An easy solution, even though it took me many hours to find the answer.
